Objects and materials have always been infused with emotional subconscious underpinnings for me. Through their combination and placement, energetically charged relationships become animated. This is similar to the emotional subtexts of my music and compositional process.
In tandem with my career as a composer, I have re-embraced my passion for sculpture. In creating illuminated sculptural installations, I want to tap into a deep-level primal fluidity of connections to cultivate emotional intelligence.
For my sculptures, I combine materials in relationships of balance, concealment, containment, and suspended motion. These are photographs of small concept models for larger sculptural installations. A secondary vision is to create physical “listening spaces” in which sculptural installations resonate emotionally with the underpinnings of my music. – RW
