The composer has just released her new album, Dream Vapors Suite (Live), performed by the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Elias Peter Brown. Rain Worthington is an emotional songwriter; she writes music from emotions and has the power to seize those of the listeners, guiding them along an imaginary journey that excites the inner being, an experience, at the same time, unique.
The three movements of Dream Vapors Suite are explorations into the impressionistic logic of emotions and dreams. The “’vapors’ of the title refer to residual emotions and dream images that can subliminally persist to resurface throughout the day”, writes the author in the album’s notes. The composer creates tension through tonality, with an ever-deepening intensity of feeling. Worthington channels her creativity with compositional resources—modality, chromaticism—that express her deeply personal sound world.
