May 18, 2016

Program note: Clear, cold light and quiet introspection infuse two moods of existential contemplation on a winter’s day.
(Audio is a concert performance at Turtle Bay Music School, NYC.)

Audio is a recent concert performance by Vent Nouveau, with Katrina Owens, flute; Kristen Mather, clarinet; Briana Lehman, bassoon.

Walking on Wires

May 17, 2016

An anxious lament for love lost. The emotional context begins from a point of sadness and feeling that there is no escape, then transmutes into edgy feelings of anger against the emotional pain. It takes musical inspiration from the plainsong, “Dies Irae”.
