Program note: The three movements of Dream Vapors Suite are explorations into the impressionistic logic of emotions and dreams. Within this realm there is a fluidity of connections and sequences that is governed by emotional contexts, rather than rational order. With the shifting intangibility of perceptions and ephemerality of memories, unexpected juxtapositions can arise. The “vapors” in the title refers to the residual emotions and imagery from dreams that can linger subliminally to resurface throughout the day. – RW

The composer has just released her new album, Dream Vapors Suite (Live), performed by the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Elias Peter Brown. Rain Worthington is an emotional songwriter; she writes music from emotions and has the power to seize those of the listeners, guiding them along an imaginary journey that excites the inner being, an experience, at the same time, unique.
The three movements of Dream Vapors Suite are explorations into the impressionistic logic of emotions and dreams. The “’vapors’ of the title refer to residual emotions and dream images that can subliminally persist to resurface throughout the day”, writes the author in the album’s notes. The composer creates tension through tonality, with an ever-deepening intensity of feeling.
