Shadows of the Wind
for chamber orchestra
Program note: The inspiration for this work came to me one night while listening to the sounds of a windstorm, as the wind increased and diminished in cycles, the room was filled with the changing patterns cast by the movements of branches and leaves. It seemed to transform the room with a wash of mystery – as if from some higher perspective, with shadows of time moving in waves over a vast landscape below. – RW

Reviews of Shadows of the Wind
The astonishing vitality of Rain Worthington's Shadows of the Wind lies in its language, with which it transmits, through nostalgic cellos, sumptuous poetic images. It should be noted that Worthington's compositional ideas very often express a message essentially of clear and unambiguous emotions. – Sonograma Magazine
Shadows of the Wind recruits the Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra and Ivo Fišer’s cello to a very cinematic approach. – Take Effect music reviews
